ACA - Fundamentals of MIC Threat Assessment (A103)

Learn how to conduct a MIC threat assessment, the types of data required, data integration for MIC analysis and decision making in the context of corrosion management. Gain confidence in your corrosion threat assessment outcomes. Learn how to apply your knowledge in practical case studies. Identify escalation factors that reduce the effectiveness of preventive measures

Over 6 hours of e-learning, 48 Activities total, 30 Lectures, 8 Self assessments, 31 downloadable resources, and Certificate of Completion

ACA - Fundamentals of MIC Mitigation (A104)

Gain an understanding of the types of mitigation methods that can be applied for MIC management, how and where these methods can be applied, benefits and limitations of different methods and considerations for monitoring their effectiveness. Put your new knowledge into action with case study assignments that receive feedback directly from the instructors.

Over 8 hours of e-learning, 60 Activities total, 30 lectures, 12 self assessments, 36 downloadable resources, and Certificate of Completion.

ACA - Fundamentals of MIC Monitoring (A105)

Learn the types of monitoring methods that are available to help determine if MIC is a threat and if mitigation measures are actually working. State of the art DNA based molecular microbiological methods (MMM) are covered in this course. Test your new knowledge in case studies with feedback from the instructors.

What we offer

Our online specialties

Reliable diagnosis and management of MIC and abiotic corrosion in operating assets or failure analysis of corroded components requires collection of multiple lines of evidence and a careful integration of information about microbiological conditions, the chemical environment, design and operating conditions, and materials and corrosion products. These courses include the current best practices related to corrosion diagnosis and failure analysis, emphasizing the best practices related to sample collection and preservation, collecting multiple lines of evidence, and integration of evidence. Case studies are used to illustrate new concepts using real-world examples.
Topics include:
  • Best practice for diagnosing MIC
  • Chemical analysis methods
  • Design and operating considerations
  • Identifying abiotic corrosion mechanisms
  • Choosing corrosion mitigation measures
  • Monitoring techniques and their application
  • Using molecular microbiological methods
  • Expert instruction, lectures and case studies
